Take Your Kid to the Comic Shop Day

Lately I’ve been watching Comic Book Men, lusting after Harvey Pekar’s The Beats and even went to my first comic con last weekend. Hanging out with a comic book guy can be addictive. But the comic world isn’t all Archie and leotard-wearing superheroes. There are legendary histories and lineages these peeps know back-and-forth. Graphic storytelling is a fascinating art. And there’s a value system — like any other fine art trade — that I’m sure takes decades to absorb. So, I’m a lady person, but truth be told: I hate shopping. And more often than not I kind of hate what’s in my closet too. Between work, a kid and a bazillion things to do (and dress for!) around CLE, I hardly have time to freak out about what to wear. Conundrum, right? Cluttered closet and September to-dos in hand, I threw down a challenge for Susan and Betsy at Shop Your Closet: make sense of my closet and tell me what to wear for a couple upcoming NEOhio nights out on my agenda. It’s a different spin on my “Go Here” series.

Go here: Bertha’s Gallery

Are you in the market for a hot-pink bike with a banana-seat? A 1930s tea set? Or, you know, a Christmas cactus? Turns out you can find all these things in one place, just outside of Cleveland proper. Nestled into a Kirtland-area strip mall (of all places!) at the corner of Routes 306 and 6, Bertha’s Gallery teems with some pretty fab finds.
