How big is Record Store Day? Well, the annual event, which has rocked the third Saturday in April since 2008, has its own Wikipedia page to explain itself. It also has an all-Waterloo salute this Saturday, featuring live tunes, new music, special limited releases, deals, prizes, free tickets and the general spirit of celebration that comes with the observance of any good, religious holiday. It happens every year. So, why am I still shocked when it hits? That week-by-week madness (it’s a happy madness) that takes Cleveland by storm each year. Well, friends: it has begun. We like to call it summer. It starts with the Critical Mass Ride (featuring a wedding in Public Square) on Friday, Cleveland Pride, Larchmere Porchfest and Waterloo on Saturday, and then Coventry Street Fair and International Folk Festival on Sunday. Catch your breath, do some stretches and just get ready to go, go, go.

Sometimes we get flack for lacking the types of social brouhaha that give big lights to some big cities. But Cleveland’s not short on fab parties; flackers just aren’t going to them. But you should. June 25 is the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Summer Solstice Party, an all-night celebration of music, booty-shaking and Cleveland’s creative spirit. The party comes at you in three phases with cash bar and three tiers of admission prices. There’s one for everyone.
